Swordfish

This is three of four Swordfishs which flew from Nova Scotia to San Francisco, July 1942. The four aircraft were V4387, V4417, V4389(?) and V4388. The three aircraft in this photo are V4389(?) as 2B, V4417 as 2F and V4387 as 2C. These four Fairey Swordfish were built by Blackburn.

In San Francisco the four aircraft joined up with their carrier, the newly completed HMS Attacker (D02). The Attacked was commissioned into the USN as USS Barnes (CVE-7), Sept 30, 1942 and transferred to the Royal Navy as a Lend-Lease.
