O/7, G-FAAF

Two Roll-Royce Eagle VIII

This aircraft was shipped to the New Your in May 1920. It was to be used for charter flight between New York and Chicago. On arrival, the aircraft was impounded by Customs due to a restriction on importation of foreign aircraft. Later the aircraft was released to the Curtiss Engineering Division. It was used for exhibition flying in 1922 and 1923. I think this is the time period of the first photo here. Note the Curtiss Kitten triplane racer in the background which raced in 1921 and 1922.

Peter Bowers' book, Curtiss Aircraft 1907-1947, states that G-FAAF was "on view at the National Air Races at Roosevelt Field". I think that this is the time period of the following photo. G-FAAF look abandoned in this photo with flat tires and damaged left aileron.
