THE IRELAND “METEOR” The Ireland “Meteor” was produced early in 1926 as an efficient four-seater commercial biplane, incorporating the 90 h.p. Curtiss OX-5 engine. The fuselage is of fabric-covered steel-tube construction. It is of rectangular section at the cockpits and gradually changes to a triangular section towards the tail. There are two open cockpits. The pilot sits in the front cockpit, with one passengers on his right. The back cockpit accommodates two passengers side-by-side and is very roomy. A baggage compartment, with room for two suitcases, is provided, and if desired the rear cockpit may be transformed into a mail compartment of more than the capacity of the standard D.H. mail plane. The engine mounting is quickly detachable, and provision is made for fitting the Curtiss C.6 or the l80 h.p. Hispano-Suiza in place of the OX-5. The 200 h.p. Wright Whirlwind engine may he installed by the substitution of a slightly modified mounting. The wings are of the unstaggered, single-hay type. The undercarriage is of the axle-less type.
