1937 M.13 Hobby, L9706

140 hp de Havilland Gipsy Major Series II with a variable pitch propeller.

Built for the 1937 King's Cup race. But was not completed in time. This was the first aircraft built by Miles with retractable gears. Fitting the gears into the wings was the cause of the delay in construction.

Originally registered as U-2 then G-AFAW. Sold to the Royal Aircraft Establishment and became L9706. Bought by an individual after WWII just for the engine and was never flown again.
