The M18 was powered by an engine developed by Al Mooney. This engine was developed from the Crosley automoble engine.

The type certificate for the M-18 was deleted. If you look it up on the Aircraft Type Certificate Data, you will find, I - Model M-18 - Deleted - April 28, 1950

About 1950 this aircraft was rebuilt as the prototype of the M-18C. At this time the serial number was changed from 1 to 201.
