SR.53 XD145

One of two Built. The other was XD151.

Powered by rocket, 8,000 lb deHavilland Spectre, and a 1,640 lb Armstrong Siddeley ASV.8 Viper turbojet. It could not takeoff on the turbojet alone.

First flight was May 16, 1957.

The scond prototype, XD151, was destroyed in a fatal takeoff accident on June 15, 1958.
