Just before my third birthday, April 25, 1949, my father took me to an airshow at Jackson, MS. There was a Rose Parrakeet flown by Bill Fischer which was involved in a catastrophic structure failure during a loop. One blade came off the prop. My Father said that the engine came loose and swung around cutting off both wings on the left side. There is, of course, no way of surviving such an accident. I don't recall anything about the show, but my father has said that I made the comment that "he had not glued the wing on good enough". My father ran a hobby shop in Vicksburg MS at the time.

Here is a web site with some scary photos of the crash.
