This image shows a reflection of our Electronics expert Jack Oliver with microphone in hand looking at a special display of the spoken word "Oh," produced by plotting the points obtained by sampling the audio stream: Plot (Xi, Xi+1) for i=0 to I, in steps of 1 The idea here was that each phoneme would have a distinct visual pattern, and one could therefore identify what was being said. Nice, but not a realistic approach. The general problem with our Romper Room activities was that anything that took significant time to complete but didn't have anything to do with nuclear research was "frowned upon," and any needed support was often delayed or withheld.
