Originally designated XBTD-1 (Jan 1934). First flight April 15, 1935. Delivered to US Navy April 24, 1935. To NAS Anacostia, MD for ordnance testing Oct 1935. Returned to Douglas 1936 for overhaul and modifications. Returned to US Navy Dec 13, 1936. Used for testing and scrapped at NAS Norman, OK, Sept 10, 1943.
