This Fairchild was originally a CAA aircraft, NC27, from 1938 to 1946. The CAA, (and later the FAA) "keep" low N-number for their aircraft. From 1931 to 1938 NS27 was a Stinson model SM-8B sn 4204 (this Stinson was latter changed to N18627). In 1946 NC27 was used on a Beechcraft Staggerwing sn 6883. From 1956 to 1976 N27 was used on a Douglas DC-3. From 1976 to 1985 N27 was a Boeing B727.
This aircraft was reregistered as N27VX and was involved in a take off accident Aug. 13,1995. According to the
accident report a mixture control metering valve was loose, but it was not concluded that this was the cause of the accident.
