Remarks by Giampaolo Ferone: "In the background of this shot, there is a veritable rare bird: an Heinkel He 100 D, a fake fighter, that never reached the service status outside the propaganda statements, 12 being built but not entering Luftwaffe service. Like the Fw 187 by Focke-Wulf, the He 100 Ds were used by the Heinkel company in their private air force carrying distinction markings, although they never shot their guns in anger."
