First flight Dec 14, 1953
Built from the 1938 prototype of the M.5 Sparrowhawk. Powered by two 330 lbs thrust Turbomeca Palas. The fuselage was lengthened by about 7 feet forward of the CG. This resulted in the need for the addition of the two small vertical fins on the tips of the horizontal stabilizer. The landing gears were shortened.
In 1957 it won the King's Cup race with a speed of 228 mph. In this race Miles aircraft took first (the Sparrowjet), second (a Falcon Six), third (a Monarch) and fifth place (a Gemini 3A). The Sparrowjet was destroyed in a hangar fire July 1964.
