Navy PN-9, A6878

In August 1925 this aircraft ran out of fuel on a flight from San Francisco to Hawaii. Using sheets of fabric from the wing as sails the trip continued until Sep 10, when it was spotted off Kauai by a Navy sub and towed into port. These photo were taken after arriving at Hawaii.
