1934 Delta D1, N13777, sn28
710 or 735 hp Wright Cyclone
A page from R. S. Allen's book The Northrop Story, 1929-1939
Several years ago during one of my Dad's visit to California, he came across this page in one of my aviation books. He stated that he had serviced this Northrop in Vicksburg MS. I ask him to put a note in the book. At the time of Dad's encounter with this aircraft, just before WWII, it was owned by R. G. LeTourneau. LeTourneau manufactured large earth moving equipment and had one of his manufacturing facilities at Vicksburg MS.
This aircraft ended its flying career as a crop duster in Wyoming. As far as I know, of the 9 Delta D1 built, it is the only one in existence. It is currently being restored at the National Airline History Museum in Kansas City, MO.
