Stearman C-3B

The Stearman in the background appears to be the one and only C-3H. Some references have this aircraft listed as being powered by a Menasco-Salmson B-2 which is a converted Salmson Z-9 engine. The Menasco-Salmson B-2 was a conversion of a Salmson Z-9 from water cooled to aircooled. However, the engine in this photo look like the original WWI vintage water cooled Salmson Z-9. Note the forward streamline exhaust collector ring, the radiator between the landing gears and the left handed propeller.
