First flight on March 29, 1936. Failed to obtain orders in the US, had spin recovery problems.
The vertical fin was enlarged and model changed to V-143. Registered as NR56V.
Tested by Argentine Army but lost to the Curtiss Hawk 75.
Sold to Japan in July of 1937.
